This workshop will be an exploration of drawing techniques and approaches which I
find very suited to the medium of white charcoal. I have found these techniques to be
very constructive when I work in other drawing and painting media, as well. I believe the
real value of this session will be how it can serve to guide your next drawings and
paintings; ....it’s another way to approach how you make your art.
A white charcoal pencil, blending stomp and two pieces of black Arches paper (approx.
10 x 15 inches, ea.) will be provided for each participant. You may want to bring along
your ‘regular drawing tools’ as well (pencils, sketchbook, erasers; I find those white mars
plastic Staedler erasers particularly good). We’ll be working on tables and I’m not sure
if the table tops are textured or not, so it might be a good idea to bring along a ‘drawing
board’ or something with a firm, smooth surface to accommodate your paper.
